2026 Piano Tuning Price Guide

How Much Does It Cost to Tune a Piano?

A straight answer: in metro Atlanta and North Georgia, a standard in-home tuning is $175 with travel included. Here's what's behind that price, what can change it, and how often your piano really needs tuning.

Simple, Flat Pricing

No trip fees, no surprises. We come to you anywhere in metro Atlanta and North Georgia, and you pay one flat rate per piano.

Bulk — 4+ Pianos

$125/piano

For 4 or more pianos at one location — schools, churches, studios, and dealers.

Player System Diagnosis

$100

Flat-rate in-home diagnosis for player pianos (Disklavier, PianoDisc, QRS, Spirio). Separate from tuning.

A piano that hasn't been tuned in several years may need a pitch raise (explained below), which adds time to the visit. We always tell you before doing any extra work — you'll never be surprised by the bill.

Why Tuning Costs Vary

Most tunings are a flat $175. A handful of things can add time — here's what to know so you can plan.

How Long Since the Last Tuning

A piano tuned every year holds pitch and tunes quickly. One that's gone 3–5+ years has usually dropped in pitch and may need a pitch raise first.

Pitch Raise

If a piano has drifted well below standard pitch, it needs a coarse pass to bring it up before the fine tuning. It's extra time, and we quote it before starting.

Condition & Repairs

Sticking keys, broken strings, or worn parts are separate from tuning. We'll point out anything we find and what it would take to fix.

Number of Pianos

Tuning several pianos at one location (4+) drops the rate to $125 each — ideal for schools, churches, and studios.

Once or Twice a Year

Most pianos should be tuned at least once a year, and twice a year for instruments that are played often or live with big seasonal humidity swings. A piano goes out of tune mainly because of changes in humidity, not how much you play it — so even a piano that mostly sits still drifts over time. Tuning on a regular schedule is also the cheapest path: a piano kept in tune almost never needs a pitch raise, while one left for years often does. If it's been a long time since your last tuning, that's completely normal — just let us know and we'll plan for it.

Piano Tuning Cost Questions

How much does it cost to tune a piano?
A standard in-home tuning with PianoPlayerTech is $175, with travel included throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia. For 4 or more pianos at one location the rate is $125 per piano. A piano that hasn't been tuned in several years may need a pitch raise, which adds time — we tell you before any extra work.
Why does piano tuning cost what it does?
A proper tuning takes about an hour to 90 minutes of skilled work, adjusting roughly 230 strings by ear and with precision tools. The price reflects the technician's training, the time on site, and travel to your home — there's no shop to drop your piano off at, so we come to you.
What is a pitch raise, and does it cost extra?
When a piano has drifted far below standard pitch — usually because it hasn't been tuned in two or more years — it needs a pitch raise: a coarse first pass to bring it up to pitch, then a fine tuning. It adds time to the visit. We'll tell you if your piano needs one before doing the work, so there are no surprises.
How often should a piano be tuned?
Most pianos should be tuned once or twice a year. Pianos played often, newer pianos still settling, or instruments in homes with big seasonal humidity swings benefit from twice-yearly tuning. Tuning on a regular schedule is cheaper over time because it avoids pitch raises.
Does the price include travel?
Yes. The $175 standard rate includes travel throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia — there are no separate trip fees. We come to your home or venue.
Do you tune player pianos (Disklavier, PianoDisc, QRS, Spirio)?
Yes. A player piano is a real acoustic piano and is tuned the same way. If the player system itself needs service or repair, that's handled separately — call us and we'll talk through what it's doing. See our player piano repair page.
